Final Exam Essay

Dear Reader!

On this fine day of my freshman year of 2011- 2012. When I first entered Ms. Tierney-Fifes classroom I would probably say I was very unorganized, which I’m not saying I’m not now. I was always a teenager that liked to slack off on their homework. I would always fall behind on my reading, and on my writing assignments. But, when I did them, they would be pretty interesting to read. I would always have run on sentences, to many ‘ands’ and plenty of fragment sentences. Basically I didn’t know how to write an essay. I also never really had to research anything specially for a BIG project that we had done in January called the I-Search. During the whole year of Fresh-manity I had learn so much! I had also learned quickly not to slack off. Mostly all this had been upgraded since september. I know how to write an essay but I’m still kind of behind on the run on sentences. I had also learned to ask more questions about the many things that I had complications on or to stay after school to get extra help on organization. My teacher had helped very much when she gave us outlines to use, it really help organize a lot! Ms. Tierney-Fife also did a wonderful job helping me get ready with the I-search and taught me how to take notes to write a seven or more pages long research essay, I literally started panicking also luckily Ms. Klement had joined up and helped out SO much! It was wonderful to experience both of their help! Many days Ms. Klement helped me with organization, grammar and spelling errors when ever she checked my work. She helped me learn different strategies about how to keep organized.

This years goals were: “I want to get better at writing big paragraphs without run on sentences.” Also “I want to improve my read and lessen my moments when i go on auto pilot, and to read more books during the school years instead of just in the summer.” First is first, I’m not a very strong reader never have. If I have extra time I probably spend it on something else instead of picking up a book. Plus during the school year I’m to unorganized after to school to even want to try and read without needing time to do all my written up homework. So I will continue with that one goal until I succeed with it and make it happen. Secondly I had improved my paragraphs so much this year they are much better than they were at the beginning of the year. But I still need to continue on with making sure I keep the run ons and fragments out of my paragraphs.

What I’m most proud of this semester would being really into Romeo and Juliet and really wanting to read it more and more and get involved with it. I liked the write up we had to do for it, but had gotten a little confused on the outline. Out of the whole year I probably the most proud of writing the vignette, they were the funnest writing and most creative. I also very much liked that I was able to choose my own topic and to just write more about what I really wanted to write and I liked the set up.

Actually I guess that worked well for me most this year was being able to have a relationship with my teacher that actually very much helped me and teach me from whats right and whats wrong. What didn’t work for me was when I was to shy to ask questions even if I was to confused I would try to work it out just the way I thought of how it could go. But in all reality I just guessed on what we were suppose to do. I guess I didn’t push myself to the max that I probably could of gone. But I made sure I did better than I did last year. I pushed myself to make sure to do all work, to make sure i ask for questions, to participate, and to just listen and not be shy around anyone.

Where do I begin for a reader I need to grow and be more open to many different choices of books. To want to read freely instead of being assigned reading and not doing much of it. For a writer i need to banish ‘and’ they are my biggest problem. My next years challenges are reading! Reading! Reading! to openly in my spare time want to actually read.
