When I heard we had to do an I-search and what I heard from other students, is that it had to be a like million pages long, I started getting worried about what I should do, especially something to have enough information for seven pages. I didn’t have to take a long time to think about what I wanted to do, I instantly thought of an idea for my I-search. When I started thinking about a subject I thought of my friend Steve, he always inspired me with his job, but I wasn’t exactly sure of what type of disabilities I wanted to do, I first actually wanted to do his job, Port Resources, but I couldn’t find any information on it. Ms.Tierney-Fife was telling me to do different types of disabilities, and one of the women at Steve’s work is named Jennifer she has autism, and he talks about her all the time and takes care of her when he’s at that house. I started asking him about other people with autism and I wanted to know a little more about how it happens when kids get diagnosed with autism, but he didn’t know very much about autism, so that made it difficult and I thought I wasn’t going to be able to learn more about it besides the casual what it is and what the symptoms were.
I jotted down things that I already knew about and more things to get to know. Before I started doing research I had these question in mind to learn about; How does autism impact learning disabilities; How does learning to socialize with other kids autistic adult? and what are more symptoms and what IS autism. These were some of the many question I was wanting to be able to answer, but I didn’t exactly have the best luck at finding really good articles or finding some information that I didn’t have already, I needed help finding more about whats more important
Luckily Ms. Tierney-Fife and Mrs. Klement taught me how to do some advanced researching so I can find some better information. I knew very little about autism I could basically just tell you that it was a brain disorder and affected your behaviors. I started researching and finding lots of really important information, and my friend helped with some of the things I didn’t know.
I learned about how it can be caused and what the symptoms were and what autism actually is. When it came to my interview I was very nervous because he already mentioned that he didn’t know much about autism, he only knew about what their actions are. So when I interviewed him and he told me a lot about how they act and what their types of behavior is depending on their moods. just in an agreeable mood, they could be a lot more helpful. I also had researched more about how they could get it or what people think can cause. He gave me some pretty important information that came in handy when I was writing and got stuck.
After I got all my articles, data-based articles and my interview cited, I started organizing my notecards in the order that I was going to write in, I got them to the way I wanted but soon it was all changed around and they all were in a different group I wasn’t sure it would get me far if I didn’t listen to the teacher. But I do have to say i’ve had my bad luck, all my notecards got mixed into each other and all out of order and I don’t think I finished writing it the way I started it; in order. But I understand that next time I need to number all the cards in what order they are all in.
After I got mostly everything just the way they are suppose to be and I got a hold of everything I started writing ideas about this essay, then I started writing about my subject; article by article. But sooner than I thought it was racing the clock, so many pages to be done in so little time, I got lost in the writing everything started getting jumbled up, things were just repeating and unorganized, I really needed to take a break but then I got behind and wasn’t able to concentrate or try to figure out how things are going to go. I didn’t even know to put in paragraph breaks.
This is after I had learned a lot more on writing an essay, I believe that it had came out pretty good at the beginning. I had learned so much on how to write up a reflection for an essay. Also, I learned how to set up many reflection paragraph, like these ones. They were more than just one paragraph, you had to explain everything that had changed and everything that you had done during this research process. I felt as though I did a good job writing everything up.
